Amazing how Elon has had no problem whatsoever complying with the censorship demands of authoritarians like Erdogan, even during an election, yet is willing to get himself banned in a massive market like Brazil rather than comply with local law.
It’s almost like the man is an authoritarian trying to use his platform to undermine liberal institutions.
Making it even funnier: It seems like Musk might have shitposted into this position. He posted a meme of Moraes in prison in response to a subpoena posted by the government on Twitter.
It seems (though I can’t directly confirm) like Brazillian law only requires proof someone knows about a subpoena for it to count as having been served.
So by shitposting his response, he proved to the court that he knew he had seen it and so now Xitter can be punished for his non-compliance.
Brazil also seems poised to take any fines levied at Twitter from seized assets of Starlink, because they are both owned by Musk and they are holding him directly accountable.
