Inauthenticity is hurting the Democrats. Doesn’t matter if it’s using activist language or cosplaying as a moderate. It’s also incredibly inauthentic to go around lamenting the decline of the Republic while operating businesses as usual. Inauthenticity is the problem.

And that’s important, because the problem that Third Way is identifying is that Democrats overuse language that alienates regular people. But if you look at this data, the problem takes a different form. The actual problem is that the Democratic Party is associated with a host of terminology that it doesn’t actually use.
Republican con artists are great at doing this kind of stuff. It’s so sad to see so many people following habitual liars and manipulators.

As the article indicates it’s more of a vibes thing then in reality, as most democrat leaders don’t say these things. It does sort of act like it’s a right wing conspiracy theory, which to a degree is true also ignores that the damage during the Covid lockdowns caused by insane left wing people on social media, who absolutely pushed these types of terms without much of a pushback from anyone on the left side of the aisle. At the time to me it seemed like if trump wasn’t in office, there probably would have been, but once again it was a vibes thing where any pushback could have been seen as siding with trump.
Once again mainly an internet thing, but I definitely know people that tried to act like these terms were normal for a bit, but have since sort of backed away from these items. I also saw some of these terms creep into my job at the federal government. From my lived experience it’s not completely fake either
