Extremely unlikely that Dems could flip the seat, but at least it’s a percent chance better than going against an incumbent.
GOP will have to spend a penny more here at the bare minimum.

Still needs to come from the horse’s mouth before I fully believe it.
My guess is she was already leaning towards it for whatever reason (bad internal polling after the “we’re all going to die” gaffe, personal/health reasons, cushy gig offer made to her, etc) but that state senate election upset probably sealed the deal.
An open race for this seat would still be an uphill battle, but one with toss-up potential.
