How do you throw elderly people away to fend for themselves in the heat, the freezing cold, without homes, without one iota of compassion? The United States is a failure. Never been a better time to be decrepit in the US.
This has been a societal problem for a long time. Grandparents used to play important roles in the family, and would live at home with the younger generations until their deaths.
People think nuclear families are traditional, but they are one of the first steps in dismantling the family. Now even the concept of a family home has been eroded.
Mass graves for the homeless have been ‘normal’ in cities like New York for many decades.
Although that’s probably news to some Americans.
