      It is really a shame but ultimately inevitable that the response to the challenges that social media currently brings is a blanket “let’s just push for ID verification” from governments rather than even attempting to regulate the systems, markets, or the companies behind them (let’s be real, META alone has a rap-sheet big enough for an anti-trust case)

      I really hope governments and voters can find another way forward

      I really don’t want the future to be “information is tightly controlled by a few companies with an active anti-democratic bend within their algorithms that keep their users severely addicted and misled” or “the same as the former but with more active government surveillance thanks to ID laws”
