The author certainly has the right direction, but I don’t think it even goes far enough. We need a full fledged anti-presidentialism movement aimed at abolishing the presidency once and for all: ultimately by amendment, initially be stripping POTUS of all white house staff (they can have a clerk and a cook) and discretionary budget, making the president far more reliant on the department secretaries, clawing back all delegations of discretionary power, purging the judiciary of all unitary executive theorists, moving the US Marshals and US Attorneys under the judicial branch, etc.

The irony is that generating the political will to enact these reforms may require a Dem POTUS willing to unleash the full fury of the Roberts Court’s imagined executive power upon republicans until they cry uncle.
