As an adult who doesn’t have kids i just think modern parents are lazy and don’t want to read with their kids and are blaming new teaching methods, which may actually suck, but ultimately just blaming the teaching as a cope for any reading deficiencies

the fact that it’s also a bunch of other southern red states means I can’t help but wonder if it’s because they were most likely the most hesitant to pick up the “”reforms”” that popped off during lockdowns like No More Detentions/Suspensions, No Honor’s Classes, No Holding Back, etc.
