I think the big problem is “how do you recognize a machine that is for sure more intelligent than any human?”
What would it mean, in other words, to have an IQ of 3,000? (I’m using Q as the example here.)
By current definitions, such a thing is so obscure as to be meaningless. Such a thing is beyond comprehension.
It’s also pretty apparent that the division between genius and delusional is very hard to tell beyond a point.
A lot of people hear Terrence Howard going on delusional rambles and think the man is the next Einstein. Someone of higher intelligence or knowledge might realize immediately he’s full of shit.
But if we’re talking about superintelligence, how can the observer really know?
Like, when it comes to the gap between normal person, Terrence Howard and Einstein, that’s actually a fairly small one. But it’s big enough to cause problems.
Now imagine something that blows Einstein out of the water. Even an Einstein is going to have problems.
