Good shit. The 2000s (and early to mid 2010s tbh) have a weird space in my head. To his point, there were all these disasters. Terrorism fear and paranoia. Personally I was struggling with depression and whatnot. Yet I felt this sort of collective optimism. Even during the GFC, it felt like there was some hope and all that.
