In all honesty it is actually very important that we retain our knowledge of the truth. Things like this are exactly how history is quietly rewritten. Much of the truth ends up dying with the generation that is aware of it. The full truth of World War 1 & 2, the origins of the United States, the fall of Rome etc. We have forgotten too much due to not taking threats like this seriously. As when things are forgotten, history can be whatever narrative is pushed the most consistently.
