A few years ago blue light glasses were everywhere — doctors sold them, influencers hyped them, ads warned us screens were destroying our sleep. But the science doesn’t back it up, and even the American Academy of Ophthalmology says the claims are inaccurate.
Feels like classic fear marketing: invent a problem, sell the “solution,” and cash in. Anyone else think this was more about profit than health?

For me, limiting my exposure to blue light helps tremendously for reducing eye strain. I found the glasses alone to be quite useless. Tinkering with my inbuilt monitor settings and applying additional software tweaks (Flux app) yields the best results. I don’t bother wearing glasses, since my previous experience wearing them was ineffective. I doubt wearing glasses and applying monitor tweaks would yield even better results. Moreover, wearing glasses can be cumbersome (headphones don’t fit nicely, the lens needs to be frequently cleaned). I think the fad will die down if users share a similar experience to me.
