Submission statement: Galen Winsor was a nuclear chemist who consumed uranium oxide on live television in 1985. Winsor did it to disprove the notion that low levels of radiation can be dangerous. He passed away in 2008 more than 20 years after ingesting uranium. The scientific community however continues to refute Winsor's claims.

    1. I saw the video of him doing this a few years ago, he was very against modern medicine if I remember correctly.

So everyone who’s eaten uranium has died eventually? That’s enough evidence for me, I don’t think it’s safe to eat uranium.

    3. This guy is a huge reason why I don’t think nuclear bombs exist. The whole danger around nukes is just an invention to control who in the world gets to use nuclear power for energy.

Remember that kid who made a reactor in his mom’s shed? I don’t think I would like to have been in his place.

It was uranium oxide. Oxides are much more stable. I’d be impressed if it were enriched uranium.

We know ionizing radiation is bad because you can easily repeat its effects.

One of the reasons we try not to use UV as indicator for tagging (ionizing on the electromagnetic spectrum) for lab work that involves DNA is because it can break the bonds.

Like there’s nothing mysterious and / or confusing about this at all.

Uranium isotopes are unstable and are ionizing radiation.
