Do we think there’s anything Altman could see that would convince him that easily accessible AI video generation is just too much for people to handle? Surely we’re at the point where he must have seen generated videos of himself doing awful things – did that have no effect at all?
Or did he take the moral of Pandora’s Box to be, ‘Geez, gotta see what the box does!’
(My assumption is that the entire LLM/generative AI industry is taking the view of ‘move forward at all costs, never back down’, because even the slightest hint you might be reigning yourself in might cause the house of cards to fall.)
