It’s Trump we are talking about. He has no allies, only transactional relationships. And neither United States until the house is cleaned.

We probably get some Trump-Xi deal that is short lived but lasts at least until the end of this administration. Trump is less of a China hawk than Biden, he’s fine with trading with them. China is just putting the same controls over rare earths that we put on chips recently. I don’t think there’s any way we fully decouple and start setting up refining infrastructure at a large scale
