The people are the product, the drugs are the excuse.

people like to be racist on india but india fought patents by preventing evergreening meaning companies cant patent minor changes to existing drugs just to extend monopoly, to protect public interest. india also allows local companies to produce cheaper generic versions of patented drugs if the original is too expensive or not sufficiently available. this made medicines affordable instead of fully granting monopoly rights to big foreign companies. now india is self sufficient, medicines are either free or cheap and it supplies about 20% of the worlds generic medicines. many people in africa wouldnt have survived hiv or other major diseases if india hadn’t made these medicines generic. and india export 40% of all the generic to america .
