China has a secret US market – with a bot network operating on Ebay and Amazon. There are thousands of listings of the same products across multiple services and some times these networks do not update the listings when they are sold out. Eventually you purchase a product that is not in stock because one of the other bots sold them all.
Pretty sure the government has no clue this is even going on, but Amazon and Ebay are making a ton of money off these Chinese warehouses functioning as distribution ports for the Chinese network operating in the united states.
Literally, people in China that do not even live in the united states, are listing products on ebay and amazon from a Chinese state owned distribution network located within the united states.
Ebay and Amazon are algorithmically prioritizing these listings which bury the united states sellers.
