Democrats literally did this last year on the immigrant bill, and it gained them absolutely zero support.
I think there’s probably truth that Dems should shift their rhetoric to more “populist”y vibes on certain issues, but I suspect the report is going to wildly overstate it’s case.
I have a bunch of other rants, but I’ll leave my thoughts there.

It’s a vicious cycle, though, because the liberal elites are the loudest and most connected politically, so any attempt to shift on issues towards the median voter will be met with intense and outspoken backlash, making democrats (and other voters) feel like they’re on the wrong side of the issue.
But that should really only affect the presidential races. Senate, house, and state candidates should be able to do it more easily by just ignoring national media.

In this author’s ideal world, the 2028 contenders will be tripping over themselves to appear as “moderate” as possible. Like imagine Josh Shapiro shaking hands with ICE agents that once traumatized elementary schools while giving a speech about how “a humane immigration system doesn’t mean abandoning strict border controls”. Or Gavin Newsom sounding like a late 90s comedian the way he talks about trans issues. And at least one candidate will get an internal memo suggesting “flexibility” on abortion – it just makes electoral sense, the MattY’s of the world will love it, and running genuinely pro-life Dems the only way to expand the senate map, doncha know?
Reconciliation and triangulation are the name of the game, and Democratic voters are going to be told to sit there and take it with a big fucking smile. The future of the country is going to be like Thanksgiving: MAGAs are your racist uncle saying the most abhorrent shit you’ve ever heard while drunk at the table, and your parents are the Democratic establishment, staring daggers at you if you try to speak out because the real problem is if you fuck things up by “creating unnecessary conflict”.
