Yesterday I read a news post stating that some Wal-Marts may close in anticipation of food riots and looting. This came as a sort of wake up call about the current government shut down. I knew that the politicians were playing games with people's lives, but for some reason I was not aware of just how serious it actually is. 42 million Americans rely on SNAP to put food on the table, and even though many among us would like to pretend they're just freeloaders, the program is meant for struggling people. So why would politicians be willing to sacrifice the most vulnerable in our society for this shut down? It all comes down to keeping their position, and tax credits for insurance companies.

The better question to ask is why are the Democrats willing to deprive people of SNAP benefits unless the Republicans give in and give illegal aliens health insurance? That’s the real question.
Long and short, the Democrats are the only ones demanding anything here. The Republicans for all their issues simply want the government to be opened back up.
