Really good report by Reuters about the importance of the Bashi channel to the USA, China, and the defense of Taiwan. Seems critical to help develop the Batanes islands in order to improve resilience in case greater conflict ever breaks out and to improve the islands’ capacity to take in overseas workers from Taiwan in the case of an attack. The Phillipines is a critical nation geopolitically and it seems both the US (even under this admin) and China recognise this. Now if only they competed by trying to improve the lives of the people there instead of engaging in information warfare sigh.
