Senator JD Vance of Ohio, during a podcast that was released on Friday, shared an anecdote about the moment former President Donald J. Trump called to ask him to be his running mate. His 7-year-old son, Vance recalled, wanted to discuss Pokémon. “So he’s trying to talk to me about Pikachu, and I’m on the phone with Donald Trump, and I’m like, ‘Son, shut the hell up for for 30 seconds about Pikachu,” he said, referring to the Pokémon mascot. “‘This is the most important phone call of my life. Please just let me take this phone call.’”
I really hope he did not scream at his kid for wanting to discuss Pikachu. This seems like a poor attempt by Vance to try and be "relatable" in like a 90's sitcom way that doesn't seem to resonate with a lot of millennials and younger folks anymore. I'm not even sure why they continue to let him out and do interviews anymore, he seems like a drag on Trump with his past comments and misogyny which is saying something. Also the subtle dig by Simone Biles against Trump regarding her "black job" at the Olympics was great. Add in the news that the Harris campaign outraised the Trump campaign 2 to 1 last month, I'm feeling hopeful about this election cycle for the first time in about 6 months. Am I slowly becoming coconut pilled?

This just seems funny and relatable. Unless he was like, actually screaming, and the use of “shut the hell up” feels like a joke. Plenty of stuff to critique Vance on but not this.
Hey, look, everyone, it’s Vladimir Futon!

The child abuse stuff is honestly the most relateable stuff he’s said so far.
He should start campaigning on that, it’d recoup ~½ of the suburban moms he’s lost through his other leaked conversations.
I’m gonna with “it’s not that deep” on this one.
