Today (12th), the court held a bail hearing for former First Lady Kim Keon-hee.
According to what has been confirmed, Kim’s legal team argued in a written opinion that she should be released because the special prosecutor is waging a public-opinion campaign by hinting an extramarital affair that are unrelated to the charges.
In an earlier hearing, the special prosecutor disclosed messages exchanged between Lee XX, identified as a co-conspirator in the Deutsche Motors stock-manipulation case, and Kim Keon-hee.
In 2012, when Lee said, “I’m saying everything I can because I sincerely worry about you… I’m stepping away from Deutsche,” Kim responded, “There is someone I want to keep a secret even more.”
In the written opinion filed with the court, Kim’s side argued that “the special prosecutor is spreading an ‘extramarital affair suspicion’ to shape a public-opinion frame.”
They claimed that Lee is not a key figure in the case and that, despite having no connection to the charges, the special prosecutor is subjecting Kim to humiliation and conducting a de facto separate investigation. Because of this, they argued, she must be released to ensure her right to defense.
During the bail hearing, her attorneys stated that “her health condition is quite poor” and that she is willing to accept all conditions, including residence restrictions, a ban on cellphone use, and electronic monitoring.
The special prosecutor countered that if Kim is released, there is a high risk she will coordinate testimony with key witnesses such as former Blue House administrative officers Yoo Kyung-ok and Jung Ji-won. They stressed that continued detention is necessary.
They also justified the disclosure of the messages by saying that “Lee is a hidden key figure in the stock-manipulation case.”
Meanwhile, Jeon Seong-bae, better known for his shaman name “Geomjin Bupsa”, again appeared as a witness in Kim’s trial.
Regarding a 60-million-won “Unification Church necklace,” which Kim claims she never received, Jeon testified again that “I received a message from Kim saying she had received it,” reaffirming that he delivered it to her.
The court directly examined three high-priced bags and the necklace believed to have been given to Kim, and noted that the bags and shoes showed signs of use.

allude to her engaging in extramarital affairs with co-conspirators, causing great sensation in Korea.
It is widely suspected that former President Yoon Suk Yoel declared martial law to protect his wife from judicial consequences…but if these accusations are true, the woman he tried to protect to an extent to commit treason and insurrection has been engaging in unfaithful behavior.
