It’s a bad decision, but it’s basically a continuation of existing policies. it’s been very difficult to get a Schengen Visa now for basically the whole year, and I know a couple of Russians who have had to cancel plans because of not being issued visas for which they were qualified.
I basically agree with the dissidents in this article. I know a lot of Liberal Russians living in the UK, and this just makes their life miserable. Wealthy Russians with government backing will still be able to secure single-entry visas, which is all they need to carry out sabotage anyway.

Standard procedure from the Russian opposition. They want the rest of the world to believe this is Putin’s war and “ordinary Russians” have nothing to do with it. The only difference between the Russian opposition and Putin is the opposition use the word democracy from time to time
I agree with this. We are restricting ordinary, innocent people because our politicians are too in bed with Russian oligarchs to target them outside of the occasional piecemeal arrest or asset-seizure. This is fucking pointless, we have no shortage of Russian sympathizers at home, Russia doesn’t have to infiltrate special agents into Europe like it’s the fucking *Cold War* when they could just recruit one of the 70,000 registered members of AfD for example.

EU governments are spot on. Russian is running a [sabotage campaign](https://www.iiss.org/research-paper/2025/08/the-scale-of-russian–sabotage-operations–against-europes-critical–infrastructure/) across Europe and there is no real way to tell the difference between a regular Russian and a GRU member (without a decent amount of effort at least). The Russian opposition needs to learn that the EU has no obligation to treat Russia as a normal country
