  1. Looks like it’s going to happen. Monday (so tomorrow in my time zone) is when the Foreign Terrorist Designation officially kicks in. My guess is that they’ll bomb a bunch of alleged drug & militia sites while staying away from military sites as the military is needed for a stable transition. The goal would be to scare the military brass into thinking “oh shit we’re next” (they very well might be) and they’ll be more likely to overthrow Maduro out of pure self-preservation. At the same time, the opposition did offer amnesty to military officials who defect & many would probably really want to take that offer when the alternative is death by US air strikes. I don’t think it’ll be as clean as Trump wants but I do think it’s a smart strategy if that’s what they do. I don’t think we’ll see boots on the ground (outside of maybe a special operation). That’s my prediction. My Venezuelan friends (many of whom are anti-Trump, liberal Dems) are very excited about the prospect of strikes & I can’t really blame them.
