Caracas coaches the leftist party on how to steal the Nov. 30 presidential election.
With a U.S. Navy flotilla in the southern Caribbean, Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro and his minders in Havana are top of the news. Drawing less attention is “Cubazuela’s” continuing effort to gobble up its smaller neighbors by teaching local communists how to destroy independent institutions, first slowly and then all at once.
Nicaragua has been consumed. It’s now a full-blown police state aligned with Caracas. Honduras, with its many jungle landing-strips used for drug trafficking, is next on the menu.
On Nov. 30 Hondurans elect a president, nearly 300 mayors and a 128-seat legislature. President Xiomara Castro de Zelaya of the pro-Venezuela Libre Party isn’t on the ballot. But her government is using every trick in the Venezuelan playbook to keep Libre in power.
Libre’s candidate is former Defense Minister Rixi Moncada. She trails badly in the polls behind Liberal Party candidate Salvador Nasralla, an entrepreneur, and National Party candidate Nasry Asfura, a former mayor of the capital, Tegucigalpa. Ms. Moncada isn’t about to accept defeat.

Yeah it’s kinda fucked what the ruling LIBRE party is doing to maintain power in Honduras. Blatant power grabs. My personal hope is that Liberal party nominee Salvador Nasralla wins the Presidency. He’s pretty solid on free market economics & is what I’d consider a center-right ordoliberal. He’s a supporter of Taiwan and aligning with the West. He’s also pro-Israel despite being of Plaestinian ancestry himself so that’s pretty cool. But unlike the right wing National Party candidate, Nasralla seems to be a lot more aggressive on combatting corruption & gang control over the country. What’s crazy is that Nasralla actually won the 2017 Honduras Election but the ruling National Party engaged in blatant fraud to keep themselves in power. Hopefully Nasralla can pull it off.
This entire article bothered me so much. This is not to say the venenezuelan or Cuban regimes are good, but this is absurd fear mongering about a supposed coup from a reporter and editorial board that has white washed right wing coups. The embargo against Cuba has existed for decades and been nothing but an abject failure. This article would not be written about Donald trumps anti-electoralism that he has spread to Brazil and Argentina.
Also I just want to add that if there is a coup attempt that is bad and anti-democratic advocacy should be denounced and called out in the paper of record. But to ignore the right wing anti-democratic movement that has spread throughout the americas is journalistic malpractice

On November 30, Honduras will have an election for President , Congress and Local authorities. No second round. 3 Parties leading the polls, all of them with nearly 30% support

**For the ALBA Regimes (Cuba-Venezuela-Nicaragua):**
* They can’t lose their last strong ally on LATAM. The small country of Honduras, is their last bastion of plausible expansion (after losing Bolivia this year)
* Chances for another Coup (Like 2009 and 2017) are plausible. Worst case scenario, Bolivia 2019 comes to mind
**For United States:**
* Honduras, as poor as it is, is a wild card. Alongside their southern neighbor Nicaragua, they could become a mayor headache if they eventually turns into a Far Left Dictaroship
* If the Right Wing wins Honduras, USA might have a chance to put some pressure over Nicaragua Regime (They have a Military Base in their country)
**For LATAM**
* Honduras, is the poorest Democratic country in LATAM
* A third Coup in Honduras, in less than 15 years, might send their country to chaos. LATAM most likely would have to deal with it alone
* Cuba and Venezuela has already expelled over 25% of their population. Most of them, into LATAM
* Avoiding a similar Crisis in Honduras, is extremely necessary for OAS
