I've been visiting this place since I was a kid and yesterday it was announced out of no where that Lary Ellison bought it for $30 million dollars.

The article says that he wants to keep operations as is, but that seems implausible to me.

Theres been talk of a Data Center also being built near where I live and I can't help but think, buying a 254 Acre parcel in the middle of nowhere would be the perfect place for this fuckin scumbag to build one.

I don't know, but I'm really sad that I will never be able to go to Lion Country Safari again, because I'm not giving that loser a cent of my money.

  1. I looked at the zoo on a map. Just 5 miles away there’s a water treatment plant and an energy substation that is bordered by a bunch of farmland. That’s the ideal place or a data center, there’s no reason to put it on zoo land in the middle of residential neighborhoods.

The purpose of buying the zoo is for PR, and that’s a bargain of a price. It gets politicians on his side and they can claim that Ellison is “investing in the community” by buying something that already exists. This PR will give the politicians cover to use eminent domain to provide the land for his data center and to spend taxpayer money to build up the power/water infrastructure for his data center.

  2. He bought it so now he can build a data center next to it without the directors of the zoo complaining about their animals not having enough water anymore
