Believe it or not, 200 buck TV’s don’t mean much to the median voter if their housing and food is way more expensive. Additionally, the claims of increased spending are really just the top percent of Americans spending more, with the rate currently sitting at 50% of all consumer spending being done by the top ten percent of Americans.

There’s definitely some point to be made here but this ain’t it. We are wealthier than ever, but people are understandably anxious what necessities (housing, medical care) are the goods increasing the most in price.
The current situation is still better than anytime in human history.
