Britain’s Budget woes illustrate the threat to Europe’s social contract

If I had to choose between higher wages and a bigger welfare state, I would choose higher wages, but given it seems impossible to raise wages for structural reasons, I would settle for a bigger welfare state. Under the Tories we somehow managed to have neither lol.
