Everyone already knows the solution to housing: bring down prices. But that comes with immense costs which very few people (and politicians) are willing to pay.

They don’t believe in markets so there is no point in even talking to these “researchers”.
Seems like at least in germany the popularity of the AFD is strongest in economic weak areas with low cost of housing.
And the cities that actually suffer a largescale housing shortage all vote greens/left/spd.
This just reeks of “oh my pet issue is actually the root of all problems”
As usual, the Guardian proposes bad solutions
