Northerners and Southerners now share similar economic values, but Londoners are more liberal and pro-welfare | National Centre for Social Research

From 2022, but there was also a 2024 YouGov poll that showed 50% of Londoners had a favourable view of Socialism compared to 38% of Northerners and 37% of Southerners. Also when asked to choose between Communism and Fascism, it was 47/9 in London, 39/10 in the North and 39/11 in the South. Also, London was the least likely to find socialism unfavourable at 26% compared to 39% in the South.
Moreover, London has seen the right-wing vote share (Conservatives + Farage Party) continuously decline, even in the Boris Johnson landslide of 2019, and despite polls suggesting Conservatives would win 40-45% of the vote in London, they ended up getting 32% and when you combined Conservatives and Brexit Party in 2024 in London, it’s still lower than Conservatives and UKIP in 2017.

Seems a bit sensationalistic, the numbers haven’t moved that much.
the perception and the reality is so far apart in this country it’s maddening. Working class people are taxed lower here than any other western country and yet they cry they don;t get a fair share ? Any attempt to redress that which would improve everyone’s lot is met with cries of only tax the rich when we have one of the most progressive tax systems in the world.
