The new plan allows for up to 8 story buildings along the length of major thoroughfares on the west side of town, with intersections of major transit lines now permitted to have buildings up to 13 or 14 stories. And along Van Ness, which has a new BRT line, there is a small area that now allows up to 60 story skyscrapers.

But what’s neat about this plan is that [it is entirely focused on upzoning the more suburban areas of San Francisco](https://sfplanning.org/sites/default/files/documents/citywide/proposed_zoning_map_local_program.pdf). It foregoes the eastern, more diverse, lower income parts of town entirely and focuses instead on the most traditionally NIMBY, car-centric areas.
