Funnily enough, Southeast Asian states (formerly occupied during WWII) have been the ones pushing Tokyo to expand its role as a military power. I expect this to increase under a Takaichi administration and as the US pulls out of the Indo-Pacific (and the rest of the world minus the Amercias for that matter).

Having grown up in Singapore, it seems to me that most people in Southeast Asia have gotten over WW2 due to how long ago it was + how much soft power cultural influence Japan has today.
Like, there is a short period of time in like grade school where you might learn about Japanese atrocities during WW2 and you might give a shit, but that phase tends to end quickly. This isn’t surprising to me
Only the Chinese in my experience tend to still care about WW2 due to nationalist reasons
