The most valuable thing here is that there is clearly an appetite for change. The Syrian people have hope for the future and that is a powerful thing. Sharaa has both now a grace period in which he can improve on those things the people are unhappy about but also a populace that remembers Assad and will not look kindly upon him if he retraces those steps. Imo the most important things to do now are get international aid and funding to kickstart the economy properly, cut down corruption in the government further ([Something Sharaa has been doing tbf](https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/no-spoils-war-syrias-new-ruler-lays-down-law-loyalists-2025-10-31/)) and increase buy-in from minorities on the validity of the new government.
I’ve said many times before but it really is like a dream that we can actually have hope for a better and democratic Syria. Feels unreal. All my hope goes out to them.
