Interesting article by Nate Silver. I wasn’t too aware of Talarico before reading this, being Canadian, but it does make sense. I’m not sure Crockett’s brand of politics will do in a deep red state like Texas but Talarico is reminiscent of Beto but with a more homey charm and less scoldy vibes to him.

Compromise what? Throw trans people under the bus? Throw women under the bus and allow Republicans to murder and torture them with abortion bans? Throw social safety nets under the bus and allow millions to be without help?
There’s nothing to compromise on because virtually all Republican policy positions are actually demonic.

I don’t think Talarico is a compromise candidate though (which Silver acknowledges). I also don’t like performative punching back, which seems to be Crockett’s MO.

One of the biggest image issues with Dems is not having a spine. America is in a shitty situation, and trying to compromise and reach across the isle is tone deaf as fuck.
