Israeli media is claiming that Israel has pressured the trump administration to engage in a potential war with Venezuela because the Venezuela government is apparently "hostile" to Israel. This comes after the U.S has been illegally bombing alleged drug boats in international waters killing 100s of people so far, stationing a huge force off the coast of Venezuela , under the pretext of fighting a war against drugs.

There are 3 main factors in my opinion and none of those are the stated publically motive of addressing drugs epidemic.
Oil reserves
Venezuela close strategic partnership with china
and their position towards Israel and Zionism / relations and support of enemies of Israel
Those 3 (along with preserving USD as the global reserve currency which is kind of heavily related to oil and supressimg the rise of china anyway) are probably the primary reason branches of US government would ever enter a military operation
Add them all together, and this probably (and shamefully) could have been predicted.
