Astroworld (2021) and the Sean Combs (1991) Concert Crowd Crush

On December 28th, 1991 Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs, also known as Puffy Daddy, attended and performed at a celebrity basketball event at the Nat Holman Gymnasium at the City College of New York in Harlem, New York City. The capacity of the event was only 2,730 and over 5,000 people showed up resulting in a crowd crush near the gymnasium stairs that killed NINE young people, including a pregnant woman.

On November 5th, 2021 Travis Scott hosted an Astroworld concert with over 50,000 people in attendance in Houston, Texas. The overpopulation control was poorly planned and created a fatal crowd crush that killed TEN people.

What do these two events have in common?
Security failed to control entry flow. There was a lot of hype around each event and and both had crowds storm the gates and doors in large groups.

The crushing physics. In both incidents, people were unable to move freely once pressure built. either in a stairwell at the gymnasium or against the stage crowd at Astroworld. This led to asphyxia and crushing injuries when bodies were pressed together or couldn’t escape. 

This aligns with general crowd science: once density exceeds ~4–5 people per square meter, individuals can lose control over their bodies, effectively becoming part of a fluid-like movement that can be deadly.

These events happened 29.86 years apart. 29 years, 10 months, and 8 days apart.

Many people talk about ‘Hollywood/Babylon/Satanic Rituals’ here but I don’t think it’s so simple.

It’s hard to wrap your head around organized events being curated to lead to tragedy. While some ‘rituals’ may be orchestrated deliberately, it seems to me the greater energies at play may fall together through a series of choices, circumstances, and wills that organically craft together horrific accidents in history. Do these energies have a cycle? Are contracts consents for being a puppet, playing out accidental scenarios that harness greater ‘demonic, evil, or sinister’ power that can then be yielded unknowingly?

Both Sean Combs and Travis Scott have obviously crossed paths with the Kardashians. Travis being family and Sean, socially. Not sure this is connected to these events directly, perhaps metaphysically.
Both of these events occurred in the boy’s childhood homes. In Manhattan, near Harlem and then in Houston.

Neither one of them were held criminally liable but the civil suits persisted. In 1991 the suits were filed against the organizers, the college, and security personnel. Combs was considered a guest performer and not held criminally liable but civically.
The same is true for Scott in 2021, after Astroworld civil suits were filed with Scott, Live Nation, and Astroworld security and organizers.

In 1998 a judge found Combs and Heavy D 50% liable along with New York State, and the parties agreed to a multi million dollar settlement of about $3.8 million, with Combs paying roughly $750,000 of that. Multiple wrongful death and injury suits were settled out of court over time, and by the early 2000s the last of those claims related to the event had been resolved.

For Astroworld, out of the 10 wrongful death suits filed after the crowd surge, 9 have now been settled privately, with terms kept confidential. The last suit filed by the family of 9‑year‑old Ezra Blount, was also settled as of mid 2024. 

So, out of all 10 of the death cases connected to the crowd surge at Astroworld have now been settled. The financial terms and conditions are sealed under confidentiality orders.
