Submission Statement:

This is a story that is the intersection of two topics. First, the Conservative push against LGBT identities. Second, university education's issues with academic integrity.

This is a striking bellwether decision by OU, to fire an instructor for giving a student a failing grade over delivering a polemic instead of an essay on a reading they were given.

  1. As a former TA… MAD PROPS to any TA with the metaphorical balls to give a student a 0. My literal hero.

I sincerely hope the grad student can continue to fund their phd, and ideally now has more time to work on their thesis.

What an absolute joke. Didn’t the essay not even hit the minimum length too? Like, it was a “reaction” paper in which you couldn’t even tell what was actually said in the work she was “reacting” to because she decided to prattle on about meanings of Hebrew words and why it’s okay for women to be submissive.

  3. I really think this wouldn’t be a story if she got a 10/25. Still an F but she did do the assignment. This is epitome of what is wrong with the left in my eyes. You don’t have to go so far the other way to make a point. The facts are on your side you don’t need to exaggerate it, you’re just giving ammo to the other side.

  4. Ah Oklahoma… where “but the cities are blue” isn’t even true. I’m from here I don’t have to do the “be nice to the rurals bit” the state doesn’t care about education lol.

[In America, if you call course material demonic, and your instructor doesn’t give you an A, they lose their job.](https://nchschant.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/2-475×267.jpg)

I mostly feel bad for the not-deranged people who can only get in-state tuition in red states. This obviously drags down the reputation of OU, but also shines a spotlight on what the American right in general thinks is acceptable academic conduct and standards. Will Kansas be much different? Kentucky? I doubt it. More of these students may feel they need to go to a (much more expensive for them) university in a blue state to get a high-quality and respected education.

  6. I really hope the grad student gets funded through another source. This could have a huge impact on their career.

Make sure a degree from that university in that dogshit state doesn’t mean a thing elsewhere.
