So you’re in your mid twenties and you just completed your student teaching year, onto the real deal.
A parent folds their arms in front of their chest and grouches at you: “little Jimmy doesn’t know ***how to eat with utensils!***”
Five years later…
“–doesn’t know how to ***dress himself!!***”
Five years later…
“–doesn’t know how to ***use the restroom!!”*** (Quarantines made people do LESS parenting?!?)
Five years later…
“–doesn’t know his ***own name!!”*** (The pet name they use at home became the name they identify as, and as a schoolteacher they expect you to straighten this out for their household just like everything else.)
Parents are glaring at you like their kid’s lack of first-five-years learning is the school’s fault once their kid ***shows up at school like that.*** What the state government in several states does going forward is basically pick up where the parents left off.
