The UK is pivoting to Bollywood to diversify away from Hollywood. India’s largest film production company will shoot three movies in the UK next year. The UK’s prime minister announced this during his recent visit to Mumbai and attributed it to the impact of the countries’ trade deal. Britain receives most of its inbound production investment from five US film studios, a vulnerability exposed during the 2023 writers’ strike and again after Washington’s tariff threats. London is betting that generous subsidies and British Indians’ appetite for Bollywood will entice the world’s largest film industry.

Nowadays, Bollywood is experiencing a drought in terms of talent. It is polluted with nepotism which is holding it back imo.

We should break away from this colonial mentality that the west is a more beautiful location and shoot only in India. There are places more beautiful than anywhere in the west, and it would create a lot of jobs here.
I am tired of movies focusing on yuppies set in the west.
