One night I woke up around 2 or 3 a.m. (estimate) and noticed I couldn't move, but my eyes were open. I was a little scared, but not panicking or anything. I had the feeling that an entity was behind me, slowly getting closer and closer until it touched me and I lost consciousness. I personally believe it was a demonic being from a higher dimension. It can't be a hallucination because hallucinations don't follow patterns, and everyone sees the same thing. If it were a hallucination, some people would perceive a vicious elephant as a threat, and others would see a shadowy figure. But the thing is, everyone makes very similar observations.

Dude these sleep paralysis demons are fucking pussies, man. I’ve experienced it once in my entire life. I felt this dark presence in my room. I couldn’t move an inch. This demon or whatever was breathing down my neck and I wanted to scream, but no sound came out of me. Then I had a flight-or-fight response, and since I couldn’t move, flight was off the table. The only option left was to face my demons and fight. This sensation ran down my spine. It’s hard to explain… It’s comparable to the feeling you get when you’re listening to the most epic part of a high octane song. Suddenly, a blinding white light surrounded me. Have you ever seen DBZ? If you have, I basically just imagined myself going Super Saiyan. Afterwards, the demons in my room scattered like cockroaches, then I was able to move again.

I haven’t had any sleep paralysis ever since.

tl;dr: demons don’t like light and you can summon it whenever you want. They should be fearing YOU, not the other way around. God bless.

Finally! someone here with the same feeling ive encountered few times in my life. twice in the past 2 years. waking up and feeling locked up, unable to move, unable to talk and feels really cold. all you can do is just stare at something dark. I never heard of sleep paralysis but that was a weird feeling.

In 1992, having just moved to the US as a child and living in a retirement community – I awoke one night to see a shadowed figure wearing a long coat and wide brimmed hat floating back and forth in my bedroom. Having not learned other people have seen a “Hat Man” until roughly 2013… I still can’t make sense of that crap.

  4. During the early days of the pandemic, my Mom said she got sleep paralysis and saw a shadow man sitting at the edge of her bed.

I forget if the entity got close to her and she lost consciousness, but she definitely felt an “evil”.

I’ll ask her in the morning as I currently have insomnia. Hey Reddit 🫨

  5. There appears to be some paralysis with these encounters which is why everyone seems to click it with “sleep paralysis” as if this is some normal side effect of your muscles seizing up during sleep.

I have had experiences where I haven’t been paralysed, and experiences where I have, but it was more a horror at what was before me and it was a hag climbed on my partner as he was sleeping, while it grinned at me.

I do think that “oh it’s just sleep paralysis” is how the public has been conned into accepting a deliberate shadow figure combined with a paralysing effect on the body in the edge of sleep.

One theory I have is that these creatures are CIA or some black budget thing that they have kept under wraps due to advanced technology and/or Jack parsons style occult work, that then searches through our things or our minds, and sometimes we are wake up to it. Makes sense with the idea of the hat man, which I saw one time bending over my bedside table rather than paying attention to me before I woke up fully and he wasn’t there.

iv had sleep paralysis and had a demon deep breathing in my ear and I was paralyzed and couldn’t move. It felt like it lasted forever, and another was a woman figure was on top of my chest I could feel the pressure on my chest. as soon as you know it’s sleep paralysis it’s not scary because you know it will pass but it’s hella freaky lol.

  7. As someone already mentioned- sleep paralysis is normal. I recommend reading astral dynamics by Robert Bruce- it will alleviate the stress and clear the mysticism around it

  8. I was once affected by sleep paralysis and often met a shadowy figure that would strike a deep fear into me. Never being able to move or react and having it just eat at me was such a horrible feeling.

One odd night I felt like the figure had more defined features that I can’t quite remember or put my finger on but felt more real. I remember fighting back in my head and saying I’m not scared, I drifted in and out and eventually remember dreaming that I had rose up and grabbed the creature and smashed it into a thousand pieces on the ground. The biggest thing I remember out of all this was the sensation that a veil or weight had been lifted, one of the best feelings I ever had when I woke up and I still don’t know what the thing was that was haunting me that night.

I still get sleep paralysis after although much more rarely and I just wake up and tell myself I am no longer scared and I soon drift straight back to sleep.

That dark bastard is why I took Ambien only one time in my life. Dumped that crap out as soon as I could move.

But like all demons they’re coward when the Name of Jesus is spoken.

I dealt with sleep paralysis and demons for 10 years. Starting when I was the age of 12.

I became paranoid at all times. I couldn’t get up alone at night, even in broad daylight I was so scared. I was given medication, told to do PTSD therapy, and was always written off.

Idk what your belief is, but they never stopped until I accepted that these occurrences were real, and it was all spiritual. They didn’t stop until I accepted the fact I couldn’t do anything and needed Jesus to help. I seriously spent 1 week trying to just say “Jesus” to them each night until I finally truly trusted Jesus could make them flee.

Then when I said “Jesus please help” at the end and knew he couldn’t actually help me,.. they fled and light appeared in my dream.

I am in no way making this up. I spent so many years terrified to sleep on my back because they were always worst.. I would burn up under the covers scared to even move them off of me.

That last dream I had, I went back to sleep on my back (might not sound like a big deal, but trust me it was) and I felt a blanket of peace. That was absolutely divine and since then I’ve followed Jesus and never dealt with them again
