This all seems straight out of a Hollywood movie. Maduro was not kidnapped; he surrendered and handed over all the intelligence to the U.S. for them to come and get him. There is no way, no matter how advanced it is, that the U.S. armed forces could carry out an operation to kidnap a president. Many things can go wrong: a helicopter could crash, a soldier could die or be captured even worse they could have killed Maduro. This year there are elections, and Trump is not naive; he will not approve such a risky operation without a 100% certainty of success. Those who hate Maduro in the U.S. should not rejoice, because in a few months he could be released with a presidential pardon or be in the witness protection program and settling up in the USA. Chavismo is paranoid now, as they do not know who else will surrender.

Sounds about right. They had all the S-300 air defence systems from Russia and plenty of manpod rocket launchers to down any aircraft yet gave the US special forces a golden ticket to fly in, capture and fly out.
Let’s not forget Maduro also said in public USA can have the oil fields months ago.

I’d just like to point out that he wasn’t the legitimate president of Venezuela.
He lost the last elections in 2024 when 30% of voters elected him vs. 70% for Edmundo Gonzalez, but he happened to already hold the power and decided to stay because why not?
