  1. Submission statement:

This article highlights how the Trump administration is systematically undermining democratic institutions, such as the DOJ, CISA and election boards, through the weaponisation of policy and partisan appointments. This reflects a broader erosion of liberal governance, where formal rules are manipulated for political control rather than for market efficiency or neoliberal technocracy. Although it is not directly about neoliberalism, the article reveals how weakened institutions and politicised markets (e.g. voting technology suppliers) can enable authoritarian governance, challenging the idea that markets and institutions naturally uphold democracy.

Readers should focus on institutional decay, how agencies designed to promote fairness are being repurposed to suppress people and the way policies are being used as tools, such as executive orders that block voting access under false fraud claims. It is not just the threats that are surprising, but also how they exploit existing legal and administrative frameworks. This shows that the fragility of democracy lies not in the absence of laws, but in their strategic subversion.

  2. This article is from September.

Not that he isn’t trying, but he’s already pulled back the national guard and lost redistricting battles in blood red states. Add to that consistent losses in court and I think he can’t tip the scales enough to stop 2026 from being a massive blue wave.
