If they don’t want us there, why do we want them?

Greenland isn’t about real estate. It is about Arctic dominance, energy security, missile defense, shipping lanes, rare earth minerals, and cutting off Russia and China at the knees before they lock down the North Atlantic and Arctic routes.
Whoever controls Greenland controls the high ground of the next century.
Russia knows it. China knows it. That is why they have ships swarming the Arctic.
America First means thinking 20 years ahead, not reacting 20 years too late.

I think this has a lot to do with some new information available concerning international security after Russia’s use of hypersonic missiles in Ukraine recently.
While I don’t approve of us acquiring Greenland, I understand that there’s likely information not available to us publicly that is influencing this push.

Most shocking part about this chart to me is the 14% of Americans are actually in support of forcibly taking Greenland?!?!!!

Buying it if they’re willing to sell is one thing. Coercing them to force a sale… no.

Seems like Trump never considered asking with a good price behind closed doors. I’m sure the Danish would’ve reached any kind of deal as long as it would’ve been fair and subtle until publication. No Gouvernement can back down from such a public humiliation. Is this how you normally do business? I know it’s pressure tactics but it makes me wonder a lot lately

Now that this is public knowledge it heats things up with Russia and China and completely changes tensions. The benefit of democracy in America is the fact that when Trump leaves office in 2029 other countries know the next president won’t be as spastic with decisions like these. I don’t believe going public with this information is a smart choice and it has angered his base and liberals. He’s playing hardball on an issue that isn’t an issue yet. Why not focus on domestic policy (Healthcare, MN riots, energy independence) ? He is trying to do so much at once and it’s great what he has accomplished…but quality over quantity.

If we ever evaluated the whole Greenland thing in other than “fur Trump” or “agun Trump” and on thr actual merits ~ we’d all be better off. Most all of the narratives are based simply to denigrate anything he says, never looking at why it might be actually good. Could be it might not but we will never get to any rational thought.
