Donald Trump has invited around 60 countries to join a US-led “Peace Council” focused initially on Gaza. Only eight countries have publicly agreed so far: Hungary, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Argentina, Canada, Egypt, Turkey and Jordan. Especially European governments fear the initiative could undermine the United Nations’ credibility.

Very little faith this “Peace Council” will be worth anything. What powers will they have? How will those powers be enforced? Most of the countries here have either no skin in the game or actively hate one side or the other. Imo Jordan seems like the only good choice, but the rest of this seems like another classic Trump shitshow waiting to happen.

Surprised about Vietnam and Brazil tbh. Like I get the GOP inviting Right-wing populist countries. But Trump inviting a Communist nation and one led by a Socialist (Specially after the Bolsonaro beef) feels like the one odd out.
