France became the world’s top destination for foreign investment in data centres in 2025. UN data show $69bn was invested, more than double the level in the United States. South Korea followed, with roughly a third of France’s total. Brazil and Spain fill the rest of the top-5 list. Notably, the Netherlands and Ireland drew sizable projects due to its connectivity and tax-friendly regimes. Asia’s hubs, including Singapore and Japan, saw steady inflows but face power and land constraints.

Abundant, reliable and large nuclear power capacity is France’s main advantage. Extensive undersea cables and access to the EU market also add to its appeal. The surge could strengthen Europe’s position in the global AI race, notes Le Continent.

France does seem to strike above it’s weight, even though at the same time, internally the look like they are in trouble with changing governments every year lol.
