SUBMISSION STATEMENT: I have seen this on a UKrainian Telegram channel and it seems to be verifiable. Given that we have previously seen Stephen Miller's wife posting a map of Greenland draped in the Stars and Stripes, it is not surprising as such, but dismaying to imagine that a country that was previously known to fight terrorists inside and outside of governments—often under Republican presidents, especially during the Cold War—would now become involved in imperialistic practices for falsifiable reasons such as national security (just reïnvoke the 1951 Act that allows you to arm up the island*; even Mette Frederiksen brought that up during discussions with Representatives of the Trump administration, according to reports about the last meeting they had with Vance and Rubio). Both Miller and Trump have questioned Danmark's right to ownership over Greenland, blissfully brushing over the treaty of 1814, instead applying a concept of ownership over territory that comes closer to Carl Schmitt. I know that for the Trump administration and its obedient party in the back, it is about flexing power, but I wonder how long it could be relied upon in supporting Ukraine but also Taiwan: Even for someone like Trump, this hypocrisy may be too obvious to just ignore. He could easily say that if they cannot protect their respective territories and have got nothing to offer to him, they should perish under the mightier nation.

I believe in America as much as Amerigo Buonasera does, but it is disappointing, if not humiliating, to see how little outspoken and public opposition there is to this transformation of the United States into a first-world Russia. Trump's self-depiction as the Rhodes Colossus should have been the straw to break the camel's back. In any historic depiction, it was connotated negatively, whether it was for Cecil Rhodes or Uncle Sam batting Latin America. There is no, NO good reason to acquiesce Greenland. Whatever he wanted, he could have by diplomatic means, except for imperialistic ownership.

If the mods deem this post inappropriate for this sub, feel free to delete it. I just feel aggrieved by seeing this nation about whose role in the Cold War I am currently reading for a text and which has given me a chance of escapism into a better time policy-wise, and I thought that I may very well run into open doors here. I have read the rules and don't think that my post violates any of them.

  1. We are led by deeply unserious people who do not believe their actions have any consequences.

  2. These chuds didn’t give a shit about Greenland until Trump made a stink about it. It seems like the party is divided between people who are too afraid to go against Trump and the other half are in permanent “Notice me, Senpai” mode. So much for being super tough.
