Good article on Rheinmetall’s expansions and its implications for the European defense sector. As someone who’s got a fair bit of money in Rheinmetall, I’m giddy over their success but on a broader level a lack of competition could stifle innovation and that’s possibly not something Europe can afford. If they become a monopolist, it’s also not great for the quality and efficiency of goods provided as mentioned in the article where they can often be slow on delivering on their promises. Still, this scaling is good. Europe has been asleep too long with regards to its defense and now is the time to wake up.
