Anatomy of a Planning Refusal

  1. Relevance: housing policy? Duh. How policies often  contradict themselves, leading to deadlock.

  2. In a rare bit of good news, the planning committee actually contradicted the planning officer’s recommendation of refusal (usually it’s the other way around when the two clash), but that’s still deferral rather than approval.

    The system is so broken.

  3. This article is horrifying. The level of rules and regulation is palpably evil.

It is little wonder why nothing gets built, different levels of government are running a shakedown while blatant corruption rules, costing millions of pounds. 20k to an EV club? What the fuck is that even for except blatant corruption to someones friend? Requirements to push back against the higher governments demands to ensure more money for the council??? Multiple catch 22s where following rules is impossible. A design committee that makes extremely high wages per meeting and thus has every reason to drag things out. Nobody even asks the people what they want, which is that the building is fine as proposed
