  1. They should have made the hard decision to deal with the cartel problem 30 years ago. Instead they chose appeasement and let the cartels get so powerful they now lack the security apparatus to get rid of them. Mexico’s only hope is to ask the US to come in and clean up this mess since Mexico’s institutions have all been corrupted. But that is not likely to happen, as it would be politically unpopular in both countries to have US troops on the ground in Mexico.

  2. Most of their police has been on the cartel’s payroll for decades so the time for tears is long gone. Now it the time for ALL of them to cowboy up.
