Jang Dong-hyuk, leader of the People Power Party, announced on the 28th that his party will begin efforts to reform South Korea’s election system to prevent potential election fraud while also establishing a party-level task force (TF) to monitor alleged irregularities in the upcoming local elections. In a Facebook post, Jang said public interest in election integrity was evident after an online debate on election fraud attracted more than 300,000 live viewers and surpassed five million cumulative views within a day—roughly equivalent to 15% of eligible voters. He argued that reforming the election system to restore public trust can no longer be delayed, adding that many citizens believe issues such as voting rights for foreign residents and inadequate management of early voting procedures should be addressed regardless of whether fraud allegations are proven true.

Jang claimed that the debate helped build consensus on the need to redesign the election system to eliminate opportunities for fraud and correct administrative shortcomings. He also criticized the National Election Commission, urging it to focus on restoring public confidence rather than suppressing criticism from citizens raising concerns about election fairness. The announcement followed a seven-hour public debate the previous day between Reform Party leader Lee Jun-seok and conservative YouTuber and history lecturer Jeon Han-gil, during which Lee dismissed fraud claims as conspiracy theories and demanded evidence, while Jeon insisted that substantial proof exists and repeatedly alleged involvement by election authorities. Jang also referenced continuing controversies surrounding early voting during last year’s impeachment proceedings against former President Yoon Suk Yeol and noted that he had previously proposed amendments to election law calling for the abolition of early voting, restoration of absentee voting, and an extension of election day voting from one to three days.

  1. 1. Summary

Jang Dong-hyuk, the PPP chair and MAGA cargo cultist, finally lost his mind and claimed election fraud just like Yoon. He calls for abolishment of early voting so that working class voters cannot properly vote just like in the US.

    2. How is this related to the sub

    (1) Election fraud conspiracy theory & voter suppression: PPP finally lost their mind after their support collapsed to 10% range and claiming voter fraud. They are pushing for electoral restructuring that will suppress the voter participation of low-income & working class electorate by abolishing early voting. This group form bulwarks of DPK voter base while PPP support base mainly consists of well-educated, rich and urban professionals with urban middle class acting as swing voters in Korean politics.

    3. My opinion

Jang Dong-Hyuk is so bad at his job. He doesn’t have votes to changes election laws but ranting about election fraud, suppressing far-right turnout in election. Kim Moon-Soo’s campaign had that issue on 2025 election, with right-wing voter turnout being heavily depressed because of far-right YouTubers and former President Yoon Suk-Yoel spreading election fraud conspiracy theory with the slogan of “if you vote, you are a communist!”. He thinks if he acts and talks like Trump he can win while not understanding underlying dynamics. It is reported that he is using PPP resources not on elections but lobbying efforts in Washington D.C. to arrange a meeting with his idol, Donald J. Trump.

    A true devoted cargo cultist.

DPK is so lucky that their opposition is a fool.
