I see this is 10 years old, but thx for bringing attention to it OP. I remember wayyy back during discussions about how society is increasingly tolerating everything, and ppl were saying “you’ll see, they’ll even normalize pedos soon” and I thought that was one step too far, like, how could they even try that one. Lo and behold, titles like this one. Rationalization as always, “a disorder, not a crime” is a brilliant way to sugarcoat it. A diabolically brilliant way, at that

This has been the medical attitude for a very long time.
Pedophilia is seen as a disorder and is treated as such in many countries. Germany, for example, will put pedos in with drug addicts and mentally disabled patients because the crime is seen as ‘out of their control’ and they get given therapy and rehabilitation until they are deemed not a risk to the general public when it comes to committing the same crimes again.
That being said.. no just fucking no, any functioning adult who commits such an act knows exactly what they are doing/did and deserve nothing short of a long drop with a short stop.
Anyone who is not a functioning adult should not be left in a situation where such an act could be committed.
This journalist has been supporting pedos for the longest time somebody needs to check her computer.
